The first question to be decided was, to convert the car by myself or
by a company? Several years ago i've converted a VW T3 with a small
pop-up roof and it took 6 weeks of work till finished. Regarding the
Citroen Jumper, which is bigger and needs more specialized furniture,
the time frame would be still larger. Doing this mainly at the weekend
could mean several years till finishing. So i decided against
doing it myself and starts searching a company which could provide a
camper conversion correspondent to my preferences, but still to an
acceptable price. I found the company
Womobau on the internet. Womobau works
in a joint venture with the czechian company KRS Caravan. The camper conversion is
done mainly by KRS Caravan and Womobau ensures passing the german association
for technical inspection.
In the beginning, Mr. Vormberge, of the company Womobau, visited us
with his demonstration car, to demonstrate the quality of the
conversion. It looks all very good and was also interesting regarding
the price. We have been convinced and decided for upgrading the car
by him. He provide also good bargains for the Citroen base
vehicles, but it was already to late for us.
The conversion started at the end of march, when i brought the car,
together with Mr. Vormberge, to Czechia. Also the czechian company
and its owner provides a good first impression.
At the beginning there have been some delivery problems with the high
top, so the start of the conversion delayed. On 23.4.04 the first pictures,
of the car, just expanded by the high top, arrived by email.
The following pictures shows the state on 10.5.04:
The converted car has been delivered to us on the 27.05.04, by
Mr. Vormberge. Just in time to went on our first testing trip over
whitsun.
